Laparoscopic Ovarian Diathermy (LOD)

Laparoscopic Ovarian Diathermy (LOD)

This is a technique used for patients with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCO). Often PCO patients are unable to properly respond to Ovulation Induction. During this procedure, the woman is placed under general anesthesia, since laparoscopic surgery is required. Parts of the ovaries are then destroyed using electro cautery or by a laser. After this procedure, patients are usually able to better respond to gonadotropins and OI medication.
